| The initial database of Dict.CN was generated from textbook vocabulary, ranging from elementary school to college, and including GRE and TOEFL. We used the BNC English word frequency list and a Chinese word frequency list, combined with some dual-language materials to extract English <-> Chinese word relationships and form this dictionary. Our goal is to generate an extremely simple and concise dictionary for people to have a general idea of a word's meaning. The user of this dictionary should try to help improve existing definitions and add new words to the corpus. In return, we promise to provide this online service continually and free-of-charge. |
